About AHCC® (Shiitake Extract) AHCC® is a patented shiitake mycelium extract concentrated to 19% highly bioavailable and active alpha-1,4-glucans. It has been the subject of numerous scientific studies, including 10 clinical studies. AHCC® supports the body's immune defences. AHCC® is obtained through an innovative process of culturing shiitake mycelia in a liquid medium, allowing natural fermentation. During fermentation, enzymes hydrolyse certain polysaccharides into low molecular weight alpha-1,4-glucans (less than 5 KDa).
