Description
Magnesium ascorbate is the buffered, non-acidic form of vitamin C. This form of vitamin C is better tolerated by the stomach and intestines than ascorbic acid. A buffered form of vitamin C is obtained by combining ascorbic acid with a mineral, in this case magnesium. Vitamin C cannot be produced by the body itself, so we are entirely dependent on our diet for a healthy vitamin C level. It is a water-soluble vitamin, which means it protects our cells against free radicals. Free radicals arise from stress, smoking, alcohol consumption, lack of exercise, lack of sleep, poor diet, traumatic experiences, pesticides, etc. Vitamin C contributes: √ to the maintenance of normal immune system function during and after intense physical exercise √ to normal collagen formation for the normal function of blood vessels, bones, cartilage, gums, skin and teeth √ to normal energy metabolism √ to normal function of the nervous system √ to normal psychological function √ to normal function of the immune system √ to the protection of cells from oxidative stress √ to the reduction of tiredness and fatigue √ to the regeneration of the active form of vitamin E Vitamin C also works in synergy with iron : in particular, it helps ensure significantly improved iron uptake. It is therefore particularly recommended for people with an iron deficiency to take vitamin C together with the iron-based preparation. Possible symptoms of a vitamin C deficiency are: haemorrhages, bruising, reduced immunity, connective tissue problems, gum conditions. The colour of the powder may vary slightly from batch to batch.
