Restoring the intestinal barrier with DIGILANCE Digilance is a powder to be diluted in water, the base active ingredient of which is glutamine. One of its best-known roles is maintaining the integrity of the intestinal wall. It also plays a role in acid-base balance. In cases of stress, illness, burns, or extreme exertion, the body comes to lack it…and the wall becomes too porous, allowing macromolecules, parasites, unwanted substances through, poisoning the blood and overwhelming the liver. Alongside glutamine, Digilance contains blueberry, turmeric, aloe vera, and spirulina for their complementary action around the digestive barrier. The glutamine present in Digilance is also a precursor of GABA, a neurotransmitter whose deficiency is harmful. Here are the ingredients of DIGILANCE that we use to restore the intestinal barrier, along with the role of each one. √ Glutamine The key element for restoring the intestinal barrier is glutamine. Glutamine is the most abundant amino acid in our body. It plays a role not only in maintaining the integrity of the intestinal wall, but also in immune protection, acid-base balance and protein synthesis. It promotes the repair of cartilage and tendons through its role in the production of glucosamine. Glutamine is not an essential amino acid because the body produces it from food. In cases of illness, major stress, burns, or surgery, the body comes to lack it. While moderate physical exercise increases glutamine levels in the blood, extreme exertion decreases it. One of its main storage sites is the muscles. Glutamine is often added to enteral (or parenteral) feeding for patients hospitalised in intensive care. In cases of extreme thinness, loss of appetite and absorption disorders, glutamine is essential. Knowing that bodybuilders and athletes supplement with glutamine to improve muscle performance gives a sense of its usefulness for the undernourished. Glutamine is a fuel, a nitrogen source for rapidly dividing cells such as those lining the gastrointestinal tract (indeed, the small intestine is the main site of glutamine consumption in our body), but it also facilitates rapid production of white blood cells. Our body must go through an absorption of glutamine that is genuinely necessary to it. Doing without it opens the door to illness. It helps maintain adequate levels of glutathione (a major antioxidant) as a precursor. It restores the function of NK (natural killer) cells. Glutamine promotes good kidney function; it ensures the elimination of acids contained in the blood. It improves the intestinal flora and reduces intestinal inflammation. To conclude, glutamine is, in a way, the cement of the tight junctions of the intestinal barrier. Glutamine is also the precursor of the neurotransmitter GABA, whose role is to slow the flood of information reaching the brain; a lack of GABA means « losing it », anxiety, and poor sleep caused by intrusive thoughts. We therefore tend to say that glutamine deficiency is the fourfold punishment : intestinal porosity, lowered immunity, acidosis, anxiety and stress. We will come back to this later. Finally, glutamine intake is metabolised into other amino acids ; it takes around 4h after a dose is administered for blood amino acid levels to rise. If glutamine is the big brother of the intestinal barrier, we believe it is useful to give it some little companions to complement its action. Here are the friends we have found for it, present in DIGILANCE : √ Spirulina Its healing effect on the mucosa, linked to its chlorophyll content, no longer needs to be proven; it is an excellent digestive cleanser, which it also stimulates. It also promotes elimination ; above all it removes unwanted organisms (E-coli, candida…) while stimulating good bacteria ( lactobacilli, bifidobacteria). Spirulina increases lactobacilli production in the intestine, and improves absorption of food and vitamins. Here it provides the cofactors essential for glutamine assimilation ( zinc, beta-carotene, B9), and also enables its conversion into GABA. √ Turmeric Here, its antibacterial effects are used, as well as its powerful anti-inflammatory action, the intestines often being the site of inflammation. It is useful in the treatment of gastric ulcers and irritable bowel syndrome, in dyspepsia as well as in liver stimulation. It is also an antiviral with antioxidant, anti-carcinogenic, anti-mutagenic and anti-cancer properties. Turmeric is soluble in fats, hence the value of combining it here with spirulina. √ Blueberry It is able to bind to pathogenic bacteria to prevent their adhesion to the mucosa. It is therefore of great help. It is a good disinfectant for the digestive tract, a major solution for gastroenteric problems. It is an excellent anti-E.coli agent, an effective fight against infectious diarrhoea, and also useful against vomiting. It is an anti-inflammatory for the intestinal and gastric mucosa. The most useful active ingredient in blueberry is anthocyanidin, which also induces apoptosis of cancer cells. A recent study shows a reduction in metastasis risk. This study also shows that diets containing 5 and 10 % of blueberries are associated with tumour size reductions of 60 and 75 %. √ Aloe vera It is an excellent healing agent, a good anti-inflammatory ; it works against pathogenic bacteria and fungi. The acemannan present in aloe vera facilitates the breakdown of foreign proteins responsible for allergies and autoimmune complexes in the intestine. Aloe also has an anti-cancer action. Having introduced glutamine's « friends », it becomes easier to understand what links them to one another. In this way, DIGILANCE helps restore the intestinal barrier. The place of probiotics Do not make the common mistake of taking probiotics with a porous intestine; they cross the intestinal barrier and harm the body. We even found a study in « The Lancet » ( which is nonetheless top of the field…) reporting the dangers of probiotics in cases of confirmed pancreatitis. Did you also know that in the flora of hunter-gatherer peoples, there are none of the probiotics sold commercially ?... That in these tribes, men and women do not have the same flora ? ... Restore the barrier and everything falls back into place. Because it is acidosis that disrupts intestinal flora, itself generally brought on by stress. DIGILANCE acts on stress and acidosis, that is, the root causes, while rebuilding the barrier ; furthermore, the presence of blueberries and spirulina in the formula cleanses the flora.
