Description
What is lysine? Lysine is an essential amino acid that the body cannot produce and must obtain from food. It is involved, among other things, in bone growth, the formation of collagen and antibodies, as well as carbohydrate metabolism. Why take lysine? Lysine inhibits the growth of the Herpes simplex virus and may help prevent the infections it causes (cold sores and genital herpes). Lysine may help prevent osteoporosis by promoting the absorption of calcium and its retention by the body. This combination prevents lipoproteins from accumulating on the artery walls and dissolves existing plaque, gradually reintegrating it into the bloodstream. Solgar amino acids are always in their simplest form (unbound peptides) and can therefore be easily absorbed into the bloodstream.
