Méthyl'SAMe® is a supplement for methylation. It is a unique synergy of SAMe, choline, betaine, zinc and vitamins that are all methylated: vitamins B2, B6, B9 and B12. HOW DOES MÉTHYL'SAMe® WORK? ✓ Optimises methylation. ✓ Acts on methylation defects via the recycling pathways. WHAT ACTIVE INGREDIENTS MAKE UP MÉTHYL'SAMe®? SAMe (S-adenosyl-L-methionine) is the metabolically active form of methionine and has the capacity to donate its methyl group. So, rather like ATP is the energy currency, SAMe is the methylation currency. Betaine, choline, folate (vitamins B9) and vitamins B6 and B12 contribute to normal homocysteine metabolism. Choline contributes to normal lipid metabolism and to the maintenance of normal liver function. It has the status of an essential nutrient, owing to its indispensable role as a precursor, notably of trimethylglycine (TMG). Zinc is a trace element necessary for the conversion of betaine into dimethylglycine (DMG). It contributes to normal protein synthesis. Protein synthesis is important in methylation because methylation reactions notably take place thanks to protein enzymes. Zinc also contributes to the normal metabolism of macronutrients and to the normal synthesis of DNA. It contributes to protecting cells against oxidative stress, contributes to normal cognitive function or indeed to normal fertility and reproduction. The form chosen is zinc bisglycinate, a bioavailable form. Vitamin B2 in methylcobalamin form is a source of methyl groups enabling the remethylation of homocysteine into methionine. It is also a necessary cofactor to obtain methylated vitamin B9. The form of vitamin B2 chosen is the methylated form: riboflavine. Vitamin B6 is a necessary cofactor for the transsulfuration step since it enables the conversion of homocysteine into cysteine. It also contributes to normal energy metabolism, to normal psychological function, to the normal function of the nervous system and contributes to regulating hormonal activity. It is also a necessary cofactor to obtain methylated vitamin B9. The form chosen is also the methylated form: pyridoxal 5'-phosphate. The form of vitamin B9 chosen is a methylated, patented form: Quatrefolic®. Quatrefolic® provides the reduced and active metabolic form of folic acid. 5-MTHF (methylated vitamin B9) is a methyl group donor for vitamin B12.
