About Phytostandard® Blackcurrant / Plantain Phytostandard® Blackcurrant and Plantain is a supplement made from extracts of Blackcurrant ( Ribes nigrum L. ) and Plantain ( Plantago lanceolata L. ). √ Versatile formula combining leaf extracts of Blackcurrant and Ribwort Plantain. √ Blackcurrant extract ( Ribes nigrum L. ) is traditionally recognised for its many benefits for the body. √ Plantain extract ( Plantago lanceolata L. ) helps soothe the respiratory tract. √ Made using the patented Phytostandard® process, which preserves the integrity of the fresh plant's compounds. √ The plants are harvested in France, mainly in Ardèche and Maine-et-Loire, to guarantee optimal traceability and quality. √ Simplified formula free from colourants, using acacia fibre as a natural carrier. How are the blackcurrant and plantain extracts in the Phytostandard® duo selected? Well known for its berries, blackcurrant is a plant that grows in Europe and Asia. We select the fresh leaves of the most robust blackcurrant variety, as they are the most intact at harvest time and contain more compounds. This variety grows in Ardèche and Maine-et-Loire because it favours damp, shaded ground. The leaves are picked by hand and frozen on site to preserve their rather fragile compounds. Edible in salads or soup but rarely used this way, plantain is found almost everywhere in the world. It is cultivated in Ardèche. Growing it requires real know-how, particularly regarding irrigation to ensure an optimal composition (an overwatered plantain will produce leaves with fewer compounds). Because of the plant's small size, harvesters pick the leaves on their knees, which makes the task arduous. Once picked, the leaves are frozen on site and transported to Ariège, to our Phytostandard® manufacturing plant.
