Description
WHAT IS PYCNOGENOL? Pycnogenol® is a patented bio-active extract of maritime pine bark ( Pinus pinaster ), sourced from the largest forested area in Europe, located in the Landes, in the Bordeaux region. The first traces of the benefits of pine bark date back to the 1530s, when it was used as an infusion by sailors to limit the risk of scurvy. Extensive research was subsequently carried out on this bark, making it possible to isolate the active substance, patented under the name Pycnogenol®. A powerful antioxidant, this extract is particularly concentrated in Oligo-ProAnthocyanidins (OPC), polyphenols also found in grape seed extract, with which it shares certain properties. The effects of OPCs on blood circulation, microcirculation in the brain and antioxidant defence mechanisms have been the subject of numerous scientific studies. KEY STRENGTHS √ An exceptional botanical source √ Extract of pine bark from the Landes √ Titrated to 70% OPC √ Scientifically demonstrated efficacy √ Patented manufacturing process √ Concentrated extract 1000 : 1 A unique spectrometric profile Dynveo's Pycnogenol is standardised to a minimum of 70% OPC, with a distinctive spectrometric profile: monomers and dimers of proanthocyanidins (OPC), meaning molecules composed of one to two OPC units. Due to their structural properties and low molecular weight, these polyphenols are able to act on a very wide range of tissues. They can cross the brain's blood-brain barrier to exert their action on the nervous system, cross the intestinal walls and thus benefit from very high bioavailability.
