Description
Dandelion - Organic Fresh Plant Extract A medicinal plant known as a cleanser for the body, to be used as a course in spring and autumn. History and traditional uses of Dandelion Yet so familiar, this plant conceals a diversity of species that defies botanists due to the great morphological variability of individual plants. In France, three main groups are generally recognised, including the Taraxacum gr. ruderalia group to which the common officinal dandelion belongs. The genus name, Taraxacum, is said to have Greek origins, táraxis meaning inflammation of the eye and akeomai, "to heal", in reference to the dandelion's latex, reputed to soothe eye irritations. The name "pissenlit" dates back to the 15th century because of its diuretic properties, literally "piss-in-bed". Its deeply cut rosette leaves justify the vernacular name Dent-de-lion. Regional terms, such as "cramaillot" in Franche-Comté or "baraban" in the Saint-Étienne region, further enrich the diversity of names. A major medicinal plant, it promotes liver activity, contributes to the proper functioning of the bile duct, and supports normal digestion. It is traditionally used to stimulate diuresis, increase bile flow, revive the appetite and treat dyspepsia. It is therefore recommended during spring and autumn courses, to help with rheumatism and all conditions that require improving transit and/or increasing diuresis.
