Description
Highly assimilable plant-based Vit D Formulated with virgin avocado oil, a noble carrier for this vitamin D3 extracted from boreal lichen, Ultra Vegan D3 is recommended for anyone with vitamin D deficiencies. Its dropper bottle presentation is particularly suitable for children and for people looking for an alternative to capsules. Naturally derived ingredients √ Boreal lichen This foliose lichen belongs to the Pannariaceae family. Lichens are small, selected plant species that grow wild in Canada, Scandinavia and Ireland. Although not endangered, this lichen is harvested seasonally to respect its growth cycle. Owing to its Nordic origin, where light is scarce for part of the year, and its unique characteristics such as surviving in extreme climates, this lichen has developed the ability to produce the nutrients it needs to grow, including high levels of vitamin D3. This lichen is one of the rare non-animal sources allowing a very high intake of naturally derived vitamin D3, compatible with a vegetarian or vegan diet, and is an alternative to synthetic vitamin D3 or vitamin D3 derived from treated sheep's wool. √ Virgin avocado oil The avocado is the fruit of the avocado tree, a tree of the Lauraceae family, native to Mexico. Its flesh has a remarkably high oil content (5 to 30 %). The oil, cold-extracted, is flavourful and very fruity, with a yellow to khaki-green colour that is a sign of high quality, and is a source of nutrients that complement vitamin D3. √ Components of the oil Monounsaturated fatty acids (65 %): omega 9 and omega 7. Unsaponifiables: vitamin E, carotenoids, phytosterols: sitosterol and campesterol. Its exceptional content of unsaponifiable compounds: 5 % (at most 1 % for other oils) gives this oil its nutritional value. Avocado oil is resistant to oxidation when it is extracted from good-quality fruit by cold centrifugation, as is the case here. Preparation under gentle conditions leads to an optimal vitamin E content, allowing the oil to keep well for a long time. Vitamin E is the natural antioxidant of plant oils. The carotenoids in avocado oil are made up of 70 % lutein. These valuable nutrients make an ideal complement to vitamin D3 for optimal preservation and good use by the body. The phytosterols in avocado oil are composed of nearly 90 % sitosterol and 10 % campesterol. A study showed the value of concomitant intake of vitamin D3 and sitosterol, stating that "sitosterol enhances the action of vitamin D3 on the immune function of macrophages, which could be beneficial in cases of vitamin D deficiency in individuals".
